Ain't to proud to beg... for likes
We've all seen the posts on Facebook... "share this to win", "which dress should I wear, A, B, C or D?" with an image of the choices, "Like this post if you love cake!". If I don't click it does that mean I don't like cake? This is known as "engagement bait". They are meant to boost posts algorithms higher so that more people will see it in their newsfeed, obtaining a higher "reach". Facebook announced yesterday (Dec, 18 2017) that, starting this week, they will begin demoting individual posts from people and pages that use engagement bait. This means that anyone using "engagement bait" will be penalized in Facebook's algorithms which determines which posts show up in the news feed.
Authenticity and Value will be your new best friend, which is what you should be sharing in the first place to get REAL interaction on your page. Collecting likes and shares for basically no reason is simply just a facade. It's fake interaction that doesn't bring value into anyone's life except for yours. You want your business to grow on Facebook? Start focusing on real interaction and adding value to your content. Get addicted to changing people's lives and adding real value to the people around you.
Value over Vanity.
Legacy over Likes.
Quality over Quantity.
Gaining a following is not an overnight thing. You have to be consistent with adding valuable content and sharing it on all available platforms. You want your followers to be interested in what you have to bring so that it will be more engaging for everyone. That is an authentic following.
Facebook's intention with this change is to 'reduce the spread of content that is spammy, sensational, or misleading in order to promote more meaningful and authentic conversations on Facebook." Posts that ask people for help, advice, or recommendations, such as circulating a missing child report, raising money for a cause, or asking for travel tips, will not be impacted by this update.
You don't need more likes, you need more valuable content.
